KNH surgeons reattach boy’s cut off hand in historic surgery
The Kenyatta National Hospital multi-disciplinary team of surgeons and other specialists have again performed a successful hand reattachment to a seven-year-old boy.
Young Benovelence got his hand accidentally chopped off by a chaff cutter on the 4th October, this year in Kiambu.
After the chopped hand reached KNH in a cool box, a team of specialists embarked on an intricate 8 hours surgical procedure that reclaimed the boy’s hand.
The boy is now stable and recuperating in the ward as he continues with treatment.
This complex hand reattachment operation is the fifth successful surgery of its kind that KNH has performed since the first case in February 2018.
