Kirinyaga MCAs slash executive budget in continued rift with Governor Waiguru

The rift between the Kirinyaga County Assembly and Governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru continued to deepen, as the MCAs flexed their muscle slashing the budget for the Executive.

To punish the Governor, the assembly has slashed legal fees meant to pay lawyers who represented her in the Senate during the impeachment motion, among other legal undertakings, from 60 million to 1 million shillings.

The assembly further slashed the budget for the County Secretary’s office from 111 million shillings to zero, paralysing the operations of the office.

Budget Committee Chairman David Mathenge says the slashed monies have been directed to ward-based projects, for the construction of roads, dispensaries and water projects.
