Curfew to start at 10pm-4am and extended till January next year
The natiowide curfew has been extended from 10pm to 4 am effective Wednesday, as part of new measures announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against the resurgence of Covid-19 in the country.
In his address to the nation, the President further said it will remain in force until the 3rd of January 2021.
“The nationwide curfew is extended upto January 3, 2021, and beginning tonight (Wednesday), the curfew will now be enforced between 10pm and 4am,” President Kenyatta said in his address.
Furthermore, political gatherings and rallies have been suspended for 60 days.
“All political gatherings and rallies are suspended for a period of 60 days and this to take effect immediately and anyone wishing to hold such meetings should do so in town halls, and in doing so, must observe all COVID-19 protocols including limiting the attendees to one-third sitting capacity of the hall and the wearing of face masks,” he said.
At the same time, the head of state has directed the formation of a special enforcement unit to ensure compliance.
